The latest set of ‘casualties’ are Chelsea quartet of Cesc Fabregas, striker Alvaro Morata, winger Pedro Rodriguez and wing-back Marcos Alonso who all have been left out of Spain’s squad for the 2018 World Cup released on Monday.

Club-mate Cesar Azpilicueta has got the nod and is the Blues’ sole representative in manager Julen Lopetegui’s 23-man squad for the tournament.

Former Chelsea star Diego Costa, who was ineffectively replaced by Morata at Stamford Bridge, is in the squad.

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is included, but team-mate Hector Bellerin misses out.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea and Manchester City playmaker David Silva are the other Premier League representatives in the squad.

Spain will tackle Portugal, Iran and Morocco in Group B, with their first match against Cristiano Ronaldo and company taking place on June 15th in Sochi.

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte is set to leave the Stamford Bridge in the next 48 hours with ex-Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique being on the line to replace him, Express UK, reports.

Conte lifted the FA Cup on Saturday as his side beat Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley, thanks to Eden Hazard’s penalty.

The Italian has fallen out with Chelsea’s hierarchy on several occasions over the club’s transfer policy, as well as the handling of players within the squad.

According to the British newspaper, other managers on Chelsea’s wanted list are Monaco chief, Leonardo Jardim and Napoli Supremo Maurizio Sarri.

Speaking about his Chelsea’s future after winning the FA Cup trophy, Conte told reporters: “Sometimes you do not always have the same ambition.

“Last season after we won the League, I and the club spoke, we tried to find the right way to try to defend our title. I decided to stay and work hard.

“When you decide to take on a coach like me, you must know who you are taking on, who you are charging for this job. I cannot change my personality, my idea of football. I am a serial winner.

“The way we played on Saturday was the only way to lift a trophy the way we are now. If you want to change, you must change many players.”

“I don’t think winning the FA Cup changes anything about my future. A win or a loss cannot change that.

“It’s right for the club to take the best decision. The win on Saturday cannot change an assessment of my work.

“We could have played better at Wembley but the situation is we have to play strong defensively if we want to win a trophy.

“The club has the right experience to understand the moment now and what the club has to do in the future, to be competitive and to fight for a place in the Champions League.”

Mourinho and Pogba

While speaking in an interview with Canal+, Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba dislcosed that he and his club's manager, Jose Mourinho do not need to get along, saying that "a coach and a player don't have to be best friends."

The 2017-18 season was punctuated by friction between the pair with Pogba playing a cameo role at times, notably in the UEFA Champions League round-of-16 defeat to Sevilla.

"There were times when I wasn't playing, I was on the bench," Pogba said. "People talked about it a lot. They thought things weren't going well, but a coach and a player don't have to be best friends. We don't have to go to a restaurant together.

"I had some little niggles, too. Football is all in the head. He put me on the bench, I respond on the pitch, I give my all every time."

Evasive on his future, Pogba said; "You're never sure of anything, [but] contractually, it's certain, yes," when asked if he would be at United next season, he was more forthcoming when asked in a video message from Mario Balotelli whether Mourinho was "good" at United.

"He's just the same, he's crazy," said Pogba, who was then asked to compare himself with Mourinho. "He's crazier, because he can be. As a player, you can't just do what you want."

In the two seasons the pair have been together in Manchester, Pogba acknowledged he had improved under Mourinho.

"He has made me progress in terms of leadership," he said. "I had the captain's armband with Mourinho. It's the first time at a club. It's important for me. It's helped me grow to become a leader for the France team, too."

Antonio Conte has confirmed David Luiz will return to the Chelsea squad on Saturday following rumours of a spat between the two. The Brazilian was dropped from the squad after their 3-0 Champions League defeat by Roma, over which it was rumoured the pair had fallen out.
When asked at his pre-match press conference, Conte confirmed Luiz would feature in Saturday's away fixture against West Bromwich, but refused to be drawn on the rumours. He said: "I think I stay here to speak for the team before an important game against West Bromwich, not about a single player." When asked about Luiz's future before the international break, Conte said: "He has to work really hard otherwise he is on the bench or in the stand." Meanwhile, a report on Friday suggested a reunion between Luiz and former manager Jose Mourinho could be on the cards.
